Review on πŸš— VIAIR 440P Portable Compressor,44043, Black: Efficient and Versatile Companion for On-the-Go Inflation by Christopher Pfaffe

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Most tires and wheels features

The good news is that VIAIR has a lot of superchargers. The bad news is they have a lot of compressors! I studied almost all of them and, to be honest, almost skimmed them! Without writing a book, I chose this one for the next one. 1. Connections are 3/8" instead of 1/4" on other devices. This allows for higher quality tubing etc. Please note that the tubing with this unit has no warnings to stay out of the sun and should not be kinked as others have reported. It's a camber block and the last thing I want in 5 years is a bad tube. I've had "yellow" 1/4" tubing and they are quite brittle, especially if not bent properly. 2. 3.0 CFM capacity is 20-50% greater than 88p, 400p and 450p. During throughput is limited to 33% the fill time needs to be very fast with high CFM throughput I intend to use this on light truck or car tires in an emergency and want to limit roadside exposure time 3. Large battery clips can be removed without modification (as opposed to 88p) to the original battery post and the thick wire should hold.I've had cheap units with thin wires and have always been afraid of breaking or loosening them. Also in the middle of the night or on someone else's vehicle I really don't want to look somewhere for a smaller screw to attach smaller clamps 4. The air gauge reads in increments of 2lb as opposed to 4lb on other units 5. The unit is compact at only 1" taller and about 3.5". wider than the 88P. It is smaller than 400p and 450p. 6. 440 is 1.5 pounds heavier than 400p and 450p and its base needs to stay in place while filling. Tires. There have been reports of 88p drops during use. With a slab of sand, this device should slide if it moves at all. 7. An 8ft power cord and 25ft hose should do almost anything with no extensions and minor modifications to the unit 6. A sturdy black carrying case (to prevent stains) was included so I didn't have to search for what I wanted fill the tire park. I think 450p at 100% duty cycle (at half fill speed) would be a choice but it's really not my use for it. 88 pence is also a sub-$100 winner, but I have to track bag and longer cords. Also, the device is very light and large compared to the width to stay upright. I suspect it's lighter and has thinner wires and smaller terminals. Last but not least the 440 looks with the black engine cover, flared fins (straight on 400p and 450p) and two chrome pipes coming out of each side all for better heat dissipation I think! Expensive but all in one place with great flexibility in application from truck tires to cylinders. Update: Received the device today. Very good. Really a tool, not a toy. Reinforced 10 gauge cable to the gauge, additional filters with a side pocket in the bag for her or another tire gauge, and even a waterproof switch cover. The air hose is 3/8 with a heavy duty quick disconnect and the air hose is reinforced with a coil. The sensor reads at 2lb. Increments per ton are more useful than the 4lb jumps found on other units and are covered in rubber. Even the bus fitting is sturdy and the well-made extension keeps the hose from bending when trying to fit the fitting onto the valve stem. I could go on. I was a little worried about the size from the box as I need to keep it in the truck. In short, it fit perfectly (okay, I had to move the included set of tires back about six inches) under the Avalance's rear jump seat. Good product!
