Funny thing about bike tire sizes. Just because it says it's a 26-inch tire doesn't mean it's 26-inch wide. This is especially true for old bikes. So make sure the size matches what you are replacing to get a good fit. That being said, I have to disagree with a previous comment about the impossibility of aquaplaning on a bike. I've ridden over 65 mph out of the mountains and I normally cycle 25 mph on the flat. That's more than enough for aquaplaning. At high speeds you lean heavily towards the tire to corner, so traction is important here. It comes down to knowing your riding style and where you want to use it. For me tires without tread are dangerous, but that has more to do with city driving on city streets. Slick tires tend to snap under hard braking on paved roads. When you're stuck in a traffic jam, you know how many times you have to make panic stops because someone can't see you. Check for wear. Your tire is at these spots and you will understand what I mean by wear and tear. Time will tell how well this tire wears and performs in the rainy weather we are currently experiencing. I will update this as needed.
