I needed this thermometer for various diagnostic purposes outside of the kitchen. I also leave it in my center console in my truck. My truck has a thermostat for the air conditioning/heating and the outside temperature, but no thermometer inside. So I just take measurements from the protective cover to go to the field. My car has sensitive devices with temperature limitations. I use more expensive devices in industrial settings, and while this style isn't as easy to read as digital and they're not as fast, they don't have dead batteries when I need to use one. I calibrated it twice. The first time I calibrated it, I calibrated it with a different thermometer. I found I still had to do the ice and water trick as the first thermometer wasn't as accurate. I left it on the bench after calibration and it was close to other thermometers, my oral body temperature was about 1° lower so I would consider a bimetal thermometer in my price range. It's worth it. I wish I had bought 2 packs instead. I managed to damage an important part of his sleeve while trying to calibrate it. However, it still works. Due to the size of the dial, it is difficult to rotate. I checked the AC readings in my house and car through the vents and it took me less than a minute to stabilize in the car and about 2 minutes in the house. That's pretty consistent with this type of device. Even my Tru-Temps at work, which cost over $100, are still pretty slow. This should work for anything my dear FLIR doesn't measure, such as: B. Water temperatures in livestock water tanks in the dead of winter.
