Review on ❄️ IceProbe Thermoelectric Aquarium Chiller - Compact Cooling Solution - 4" x 4.75" x 7.5 by Angie Love

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's scary, but it's bad news.

Bought to cool the aquarium Fluval Sea Evo 13.5 gal. Considering that the ambient temperature at night is around 27 degrees, the water temperature in the aquarium never drops below 79 degrees, so the one working with IceProbe Temperature control set to 79 degrees. With this setting, the water temperature stays at 82 degrees throughout the day. , the ambient temperature is 87 - 89, so the IceProbe has no trouble keeping the temperature. UPDATE - After 1 year and 9 months the Peltier sensor died. Ordered another chiller today on 07/31/2019. I also ordered two Peltier elements ($7.77) so I will fix the died block and run both coolers in the aquarium, left and right corner. I'll get some more Peltier elements later. This is the only part that can fail in the cooler (other than the fan), allowing the device to last forever. Another update from September 2nd, 2019. The days have been very warm lately. I wonder why! Both devices work and cannot keep up. At night, the water temperature must not drop below 82 degrees. During the day it rises to 85-86. You have to use frozen water bottles to keep the temperature down, otherwise they run all day and use electricity and do nothing. Pity! THIS IS THE LAST UPDATE - I SWEAR! 6th September 2019. Was really confused as to why the temp was so high with 2 coolers running. It's warmer outside, but still. So here's what happened:-. Bought a ceiling thermostat from Revain https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PXZB9QY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. The temperature read 79.7F. The Medusa temperature controller with two coolers connected shows 83. That's a difference of about 3 degrees. Went to the hardware store and bought one of those Marina Aquarium glass mercury thermometers, you know, an old reliable thermometer that's been around for years. I put it in the tank and the temperature showed 80 degrees. It looks like the Medusa controller that I've been using for years gave higher readings. I think it needed to be recalibrated. So if the temperature rises to 83 during the day, I can handle it. It's better than 86. I'm too old for this stress :-)
