This projector is not $1800 let alone $5000. It cannot be compared to a professional, business or theater projector. But it's normal. What it is is an inexpensive, lightweight projector that's great for a home darkroom. Watching videos with kids and playing video games was great and kids love the big screen. It was pretty dark, which is what I would expect for the price (3800 lux isn't the same as 3800 lumens, it's more like 700 lumens IMO). β I have no way of measuring it). But other than that, I was surprised at how good it is. The fixed zoom means you have to move the projector around a bit to find a spot that fills the wall space properly, and the throw is quite long. I had to move it quite far away from the wall and in a small room it prevented at least one person from seeing the screen due to keystone and other settings constraining its position. You can rotate and flip the image giving you all the options for ceiling and back screen mounting. It also has a built-in media player (to play pictures and movies from a USB stick). I navigated through the menus and the controls were fairly intuitive and the on screen menus were attractive. Pros: * Inexpensive * Fast warm up (image appears within seconds) * No cool down time * Small and light * LED bulb (which hopefully means no spare bulbs) * HDMI cable included * No noticeable lag when playing videos * Sufficient quality for watching movies and casual games * 3 months quality guarantee and 2 years guarantee Cons: * 3800 lux rating is nowhere near 3800 lumens. It definitely needs a darker room.* Although it says "Full HD 1080P" in the name, that just means it accepts 1080P input, but the projector itself is a lower resolution (720P). However, it scales very well to this resolution.* A lower resolution is not suitable for large graphics or small text on a web page. However, it was good for watching movies, YouTube and a little web browsing. The built-in speakers weren't loud enough to be very useful. and focus - also used to having more customization options. But I was able to get it close enough. * Not included AAA batteries for remote control. * Fixed zoom. You might think you could buy something brighter and more professional to use on eBay for around that amount of money, and it would be true: BUT chances are. He needs a new $400 lightbulb right away, which makes it pretty expensive. On the contrary, this projector's 50,000-hour lamp is a truly amazing asset: time will tell if it actually lasts that long. All in all, if you want a cheap home projector and have the option to blackout the room, this is surprisingly good value. Add some good speakers and you've got a really cheap home theater!
