Let me clarify, the 5-stars takes into account the price. Obviously there are better corsets out there but I don't think there are better corsets out there for the price range.I wore this corset out last night and it was a huge hit. I had gotten really frustrated trying to find a corset around $30 that was much like a true corset but in the lower price range. I couldn't believe that so many of the corsets on the site don't even have modesty panels (a piece of the fabric that goes behind the laces on your back) or have zippers instead of metal grommets on the front. I couldn't tell from the pictures if this one had a modesty panel, so I called the number listed for the seller and they were very helpful. She explained to me that it does have a modesty panel. (Don't get one without a modesty panel because you don't want bunched up fat on your back showing under the laces! Don't get one with a zipper front either. If you are trying to reduce waist size, it will be very hard to get a zipper to close and stay closed. Plus, a zipper looks to modern and ruins the timeless look of a corset.) I was also concerned about the silouette of the corset not being curvy enough for me since I have a small waist and bigger hips. She said they use strong but flexible plastic boning so that you are able to tighten the different parts (bust, waist, hips) somewhat independently. And boy did I find that to be true! I was able to have a friend lace it so that it really accentuated my small waist without compressing my ribs too much or ruining the flattering curve of my hips. I also appreciated that I had some options in how tight I wanted the bust based on what look I was going for. I have one steel boned corset and with that I was disappointed how difficult it was to actually pull it tight around my waist under my ribs. Oddly enough, I decided I really prefer this one to it because I like that it lets me follow the shape of my body better but is strong enough to hold it in. If you are actually trying to waist train (i.e. where you wear the corset often and regularly to make your lower ribs pull in and compress your stomach so that your body holds the shape even when you are not wearing it) then this wouldn't work. But for most people's purposes, this one should work well. The silk laces don't hold the knot well, so you will either need to double knot them or replace them with different ones. They look prettier than the waist training corset cording, so I would recommend double knotting it then making sure there is someone available at the end of the night to help you untie it. And, wearing this corset, you shouldn't have any problem arranging that. ;-)
