I've been looking for the perfect vintage retro four slice toaster over and over again and have come across this one. Price, color and style were my reasons as well as general feedback. I haven't cleaned it yet, so I can't confirm this feature. I've used it twice for bagels and it did the job perfectly. The pop-up feature is actually smooth and quiet, which is nice. I'm very happy with this purchase and I'm glad I didn't spend a lot more money on other versions and brands as I got the value and quality design I wanted. I also checked out this toaster on the Redmond website. That helped with my decision
