Purchased to fit motorcycle helmets to reduce wind noise. On my wife's front, I used it to fill in the bluetooth headset holes built into the helmet as she doesn't use headsets and it reduced wind noise. On my half helmet I put a few on the strap just below the ear. Through trial and error I found the best place for them, but it wasn't intuitive where to place them to reduce wind noise as much as possible. They are not above the ear but just below the ear on the inside of the strap. I think they can be used for many projects other than customizing helmets.
