Nice and firm, clicks to zero every time. No shaking. My absolutely fine Mitutoyo digital caliper, which I've used for 25 years, has now been relocated to one of the rarely used drawers in my toolbox, only to crawl out when I need to measure a metric scale. This caliper is durable and comfortable to use. ; It weighs 7.5 ounces while Mitutoyo weighs 5.7 ounces. Every detail of this caliper is built to last. Even a plastic body with a real pin joint will outperform another caliper body with flex joints. I have a new love for calipers, not digital. I was hesitant to purchase this caliper after reading several comments about it not being made in the USA and the quality not being up to Starrett's standards. There is nothing wrong with what I received and the quality matches the price.
