The trick to getting it right is to choose a shield smaller than a nail. You don't want the screen to fill the entire nail. My little fingernails are very narrow so I used a razor to trim the sides of the shield. The second tip is to cut the shields short as well. Don't let them extend past the tip of your nails so you can file them as instructed. Don't let the guard be the exact width and length of your nail and you'll be fine. There should be a gap between the nail, cuticle, tip and sides. Performing these tricks will keep the shield and polish intact. Mine stayed until I removed them a week later. I love changing my gel nail color weekly and it definitely helps keep my nails strong and healthy.
