I have a music ball x7 with kt88s. Music Hall 5.3 turntable with Dolly Hana SL, Project phono stage and Martin Logan Motion 20 speakers. I really liked it and am mostly very satisfied. Then the lamp failed, so I switched to Tung-sol KT120s. I was very impressed with the increase in bandwidth, clarity and volume. (I highly recommend this update) But the 120s sounded a bit "clinical". slightly smaller than the "Tube". So I replaced the S phono stage with an S2 tube unit and BOOM! Everything has been improved! More frequency response. The high frequencies hit the sky with a really sweet tone. No hardness. The mids were punchy and real, yet still rich and warm. The floors were enlarged and expanded. I had to reconfigure the sub. Cleaner and warmer! Something only tubes can do.
