My old computer that became a cell phone for a friend with worse financial situation than me, running two GTX 470 cards with two 6 pin power connectors. Every single one of those power supplies by design proved to be a problem when I recently had a 'new' used GTX-770 graphics card (v-mem. 4GB version) that required two 8-pin power connectors. That's when I started looking for a solution, this solution (buying two of these cable converters) seemed cheaper to me than just buying a new power supply. I would buy a new PSU and give him the one I currently use, but the one I bought a few years ago was so good (Corsair Professional) that nothing has been better since.
