Great unit. I had a flood in the basement under my house. This has been neglected for several months. The house smelled "musty" from the basement. After I had eliminated the cause of the flooding, I was able to install this device in the basement and after about three days the musty smell was gone. It's a heavy device (65 pounds I think) so getting it under the house and onto the subway was a little difficult, but it's certainly doable. The instructions are clear. When the device is switched on, you can hardly hear the low hum in the house when it is very quiet at night. It's so soft that his wife didn't even notice, which makes me very happy. In about a week, the humidity in the basement dropped from 82 to 32. I made no changes to the default settings when I first turned the unit on (shipped at 30% humidity). I recently increased the humidity to 42 degrees so the device doesn't run all the time. I couldn't be happier. I also installed flexible, stretchable aluminum tubing behind the unit to better direct the airflow to where I need it. The drain pump works great and goes over an 8ft wall with the water expelled being used to water part of my yard. Time will tell how long this humidifier will last, but so far I am very happy with my purchase.
