It doesn't fit in a big pot, so don't expect it to fit in a big pot. It can handle a small, maybe 9-inch pan, but the handle needs to be level with the leg so the pan doesn't fall under the weight of the handle. The supports don't go that far. But it has to be small! I had 2 adapters that allowed 3 fuel options. I've used it with green filament propane tanks. It heats the water quickly. Really fast. Might be a bit harder to adjust in low heat but I was in windy conditions and made sure to go as low as possible. It is very small in its plastic box. I wasn't on a hike, I was camping on a truck. I'm glad I had it.
