Review on πŸ‘— BI TENCON Retro 1950s High-Waisted Skirts - Women's Fashion for Skirts by Allie Reynolds

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Starte 4.5, bought black in size 2 XL.

This skirt surprised me. It's well made and the elastic band on the back is amazing. It's thick and comfortable and adds a smoothing effect. It stretches well, is durable so you can wear it high, mid-chest, or slightly bent over. The ratio of the thickness of the band to the weight of the skirt is perfect (I have dresses with lousy elastic and they're too heavy to hold on my hips. grrr. THAT'S NOT THE CASE HERE!). My waist is 35-35.5 inches (depending on the time of year) and the XL size fits me perfectly, right in the middle of the range - not too tight, not too loose. It has pockets which I forgot because it's cut so well that you absolutely can't see the pockets of this skirt in its silhouette when wearing it (another bad buy when the pockets bulge on the sides - looks awful). The material is a bit dense, more like cotton twill. The fabric has a nice drape but its thickness makes it suitable for cooler weather and you'll definitely need a jumpsuit or crinoline if you're wearing tights underneath to stay warm. 1/2 star deducted for that. It's not that the material is bad, but a nicer material and/or satin lining would make this skirt look amazing. But it's good value for money and I can buy other colors which says a lot because I've never wanted to do this with any other skirt I've bought from Revain. Study the size chart carefully and try to find somewhere mid-waist and you should be golden. I'm 5ft 7" tall and this hits me about 3-4" below my knees. If you are small you may need to hem this.
