The material appears to be durable and should last a long time with proper use. They are a lot smaller than I thought, total length is 4 inches (10 cm). I have medium sized hands and feel like I'm holding on to them to effectively prepare for a shot. I've used single hole punches in the past but I didn't even have enough spacing between them to provide them, but they don't clear material all the way back like a hole punch and therefore require constant awling work while sewing to open up a path , which is enough for the needles to pass through.
