TDK Series D blanks have always been some of the best Type I blanks ever made. They have great dynamic range and can be pushed into the red (+2) on peaks without distortion if you have a really good deck, and they work well with both Dolby B and Dolby C. Tape quality is consistent and output is excellent. . Many cheap brands that are now coming out (like ONN) are making a comeback as cassettes to some extent, but be careful with them as there is no sound production like old school types like TDK D., Maxell UR and Sony HF - these are the three I recommend for Type I shots before moving on to Type II. highly recommended and I've been using them since the early 90's.
