You must use a USB 3.0 port on your computer to get good resolution.

This took about 15 minutes. Connect the device to the monitor cable and to a computer port that is USB 3.0, NOT 2.0. You have to try different ports to find one with the right resolution. All mine on the back of my machine are 2.0 (I'm still guessing since the device only outputs low res on it). I was able to use the front port and voila! Outstanding resolution! Note. I have a wireless mouse and it was also plugged into the front of my computer and stopped working properly when a monitor was plugged in there. I once placed a USB wireless mouse on the back of my computer. This solved that problem. Well, I've finally gotten over some frustration, so don't give up. I was almost ready to send the thing back. I'm glad I tried a few more things first. If you have a bad resolution on your monitor and it used to be great, don't try to adjust it manually on the screen, it's all about the USB port. Now I'm wondering if my flash drives work well with a monitor plugged into the front of my computer. If not, I just turn off the monitor while uploading or downloading. Much luck! *Edited to include when you connect the monitor you can hear the main chirp, boo. I turned it off when I didn't need the monitor, but I'm not happy with the constant noise. I'm not sure if I'll let it or not.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Infinitely slow
