USE WITH USB 3.0 ONLY

A great simple product that works perfectly. Made the mistake of plugging it into USB 2.0. The easiest way to tell the difference on your computer is if the port is BLUE inside (especially on newer computers). I will buy again!

Amazing purchase, recommend this VGA adapter

Since I switched from desktop to laptop, one of my two desktop monitors has not been used as the laptop's graphics card only connects to one of them at a time could. . This was an acceptable scenario as I could just use the laptop screen as a second monitor in the settings.

The necessary driver is present in the device when the device is connected

That's not exactly plug and play. It's more like plugging it in, opening as a folder, running the driver installer, and then rebooting. However, I got it working in less than 10 minutes and after installing the driver and rebooting it works as advertised. Great backup when you need to add a monitor to your PC or laptop.

You must use a USB 3.0 port on your computer to get good resolution.

This took about 15 minutes. Connect the device to the monitor cable and to a computer port that is USB 3.0, NOT 2.0. You have to try different ports to find one with the right resolution. All mine on the back of my machine are 2.0 (I'm still guessing since the device only outputs low res on it). I was able to use the front port and voila! Outstanding resolution! Note. Perfect for what it was designed for.

No instructions other than a small sticker on the clear packaging that says you must install the "built-in" driver before using it. What the hell does that mean? Well, as soon as you plug it into a USB port, a driver window might pop up. It is actually available through the "block" when VGA is connected. It supports both USB 2.0 and 3.0. What it doesn't say anywhere is that if you plug it into a USB 2.0 port, it only supports 800 x 600 resolution and around 16 colors. After hours of fiddling…
