Imperfect design makes a decent kettle unsafe

I bought this kettle after other reviewers praised the all rust free construction and easy cleaning thanks to the wide neck. However, the construction of the kettle has flaws, resulting in numerous leaks where electricity can ignite during operation. I would recommend avoiding this product as the benefit does not justify the risk. If you decide to buy this product anyway, at least make sure you only plug this kettle into a GFCI outlet and read up on how to respond to electrical fires. What design flaws are there? - For some odd reason, the body of the kettle (where the water is boiled) has a large hole near the top that opens into the casing of the body where all the electrical components are. As I was cleaning, I immediately noticed water spilling out from under the kettle, where the electrical connector connects to the socket that plugs into the wall. This means that during operation, boiling water can exit through this hole and hit the terminal, shorting out the connection and potentially causing an electrical fire. The spout is a separate stainless steel pour attached to the outer body which, in my case at least, exposed a crevice that allowed boiling water to spill out when I poured from the kettle. I'm assuming the rubber grommet is there to prevent this, but it's just masking a bad design decision of not embedding the spout in the outer casing. The saddest thing is that this design could easily have been solved: get rid of that incomprehensible hole inside the kettle. Insert the spout into the outer body of the kettle.
