Review on πŸ’‘ Corsair SF450 SFX Power Supply - 450W, 80+ Platinum Certified, Fully Modular (CP-9020181-NA) by Brad Collins

Great small form factor power supply (SFX)! Would recommend to anyone doing MiniITX builds!

I love how small this thing is, it makes my miniITX build awesome. I'm using this in the CoolerMaster Elite 130 which supports full size ATX PSUs, but I want to use a smaller PSU to make room for the CPU cooler and the cable management is less claustrophobic. To use it instead of an ATX power supply I had to buy a SilverStone Technology ATX-SFX RL-PP08B universal power supply bracket. It would be great if this power supply already came with this bracket. I believe Silverstone includes it in their SFX power supplies and that would be nice. The modular cables that come with the PSU are very stiff and difficult to work with in the small case, so I replaced them with the sleeve kit from modDIY.com. The red and black braided cables were shorter and much more flexible and included a 20cm 20+4 pin ATX cable, a 24cm 4+4 pin CPU/EPS cable and a 24cm modular 6+2 pin double cable PCIe . The new cables really made a big difference inside the case. The only genuine cables I use are SATA power cables to power my SSD, HDD and ODD. Also, due to the placement of the drives inside the case, I had to use a short extension cable to reach all the drives with one cable. PROS - Small - Modular - 80+ Gold Rated - Quiet CONS - Does not include SFX mount for ATX - Very long and rigid modular cables. Corsair has a real opportunity to improve this product by adding an SFX mount to the ATX and replacing its cables with more flexible braided cables. This power supply is designed for small form factor cases where cabling is notoriously difficult, more flexible cables will go a long way towards solving this problem.
