My grandchildren 5 and 3 have never flown a kite before and easily mastered it on two fairly windy days on the South Florida ocean. The extra tail was needed and had to be tied to its own tail as it doesn't have a "eyelet" for the hook. A durable and long string will last a lifetime. The large coil handles on each side were comfortable for both her small hands and my arthritis sufferer. They did not want to go to the first acquaintance with the ocean because they were afraid of the waves. That and the sand kept her coming back for more!
