. This worked great for my 2016 STI and installing Tomei Ti on my stock downpipe. Actually it didn't occur to me until after the installation and I'm not sure how an aftermarket downpipe would make a difference, but if I hadn't used the Grimmspeed adapter and went straight to the stock downpipe with Tomei's included hardware, I would really be assuming the exhaust tip doesn't protrude an inch or so beyond the diffuser so it can stay under the diffuser and most likely, in my opinion at least, cause a soot stain problem and possibly even allow hot exhaust fumes to enter the diffuser. In any case, I may be wrong about the effect, but it certainly wouldn't look as good without the Grimmspeed adapter that came with the downpipe.
