Review on Rioddas External Portable Rewriter Superdrive by Leo Fairchild

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Slim, portable but not too expensive or adjustable

This external CD drive works very well, has a very slim and comfortable form factor, making it very portable and easy to use. store when not in use. It's also fairly fast, since it uses USB 3 and won't skip a drive if the drive is pushed or placed on a slightly uneven surface. When I first got it I was a little confused about how to wire it before flipping it over and found that the cable was conveniently tucked away in a compartment on the bottom of the drive case. It was a little tricky figuring out how to take it out and put it back in once I'm done with the cable/drive, but I figured it out. The trick is that there is a small piece of plastic where the USB goes and you need to make sure it is properly inserted and plugged into the slot before plugging in the rest of the cable. While this storage and form factor makes the external drive very portable, stylish, and storable, it is very difficult to find a good place to house it while in use. Because the cable is incredibly short and doesn't offer a lot of placement options, you can plug it in while it's connected to your computer. Especially if you're using a tower computer - as you can see my photo here - there's just no other place to put it than on top of the tower, which doesn't make it great if you have fans on your computer. . Another issue I found with the drive was that the USB connector itself was very tight when I plugged it in and especially when I pulled it out. I think the connection will drop sooner than most devices and the form factor and convenience factors will be zero since the drive will stop working and you won't be able to buy a replacement cable for the drive. However, as long as you don't unplug and plug it back in/use it too much, you'll probably be fine. Be aware, take precautions and always disconnect it together with the main USB part to avoid damaging the connection to this main part and the cable. Cables * Fast to use (no extra drivers or downloads of anything - just plug and play) * Doesn't need to be totally flat to work * The DVD inside doesn't really suffer from anything other than heavy interference Cons; short cable (see photos) * Bit confusing to first figure out where the cable is and how to store it (I'm not really considering this cable, but I'll include it in my cons if that's a factor for you ) * Sturdy USB connector so be careful when unplugging/plugging it in a bit annoying * All one device. So if the cable gets disconnected from the USB connector, you can't replace it, just buy a new one. --- I recommend buying product
