I live in an apartment building and have survived 5 floods in the above apartment buildings due to poor plumbing maintenance, needed repairs, etc. I haven't connected the monitor to my email or phone. I only use water detectors in critical areas known to cause leaks like laundry and bathrooms. I tested the detectors and they work quite well. All of my floods were in the middle of the night and caused significant water damage while I was sleeping! The alarms are very loud and higher than our fire alarm so you don't oversleep! The best and cheapest protection I have ever found. My last insurance office complimented me on having these detectors!
