I was specifically looking for binoculars that can be used with a smartphone to take photos/video of the moonrise over a landscape. The ability to zoom from 30mm to 70mm helps with image composition. - At 70mm I would recommend using a sturdy tripod as even the slightest manual movement will blur the image. - The included tripod mount is made of durable plastic, so it's won. doesn't break, but it doesn't protect the binoculars from shock either. In fact, the mount amplifies the vibration. What it needs is a strong mount so it doesn't wobble when I touch the smartphone or adjust the binoculars. It is best to use your smartphone's Bluetooth shutter button to take photos or start video recordings. The metal L-bracket better isolates vibrations. The one I used is from "EXMAX Metal Aluminum Alloy L-shaped Flash Bracket for Camera Flashlight Camera Holder Quick Flip DSLR SLR Mount" - I knew the camera mount that came with it was a suction cup and that meant for me, to take out the phone this case. Due to the diopter of the right eye, it is best to mount on the left eyepiece, as this side does not rotate. I prefer to shoot in landscape mode, so adjusting the mount so the camera is level with the horizon took some practice. So I used the right side to adjust the frame while the smartphone camera used the left side.
