SSG-3100GB Pros and cons

Recently bought 3D glasses SSG-3100GB for my Samsung PN64D7000. Pros: 1. Good price - I "used" it and got it from InSassy very cheap (only $35). 2. Excellent performance - Blue Tooth Active 3D works. No crosstalk or timing issues. Bluetooth connection works at a distance or at an angle.3. Less maintenance - these glasses use non-rechargeable batteries, which I think is a plus. Given that each battery costs 50 cents and lasts 40-80 hours, this is more convenient than charging. Given the cost of rechargeable glasses, charging stations and eventually replacing batteries that don't last forever, this is likely in the long run it will be cheaper to work with. They are not ugly and fit prescription lenses. Cons: 1. Glass and frame design. These glasses are highly reflective. If you use them anywhere but the darkest room, you'll notice light reflections from behind, to the side, and even from the front. In a completely dark room, the TV bounces off my black coffee table and hits the open underside of a frameless lens. This creates a noticeable distraction just below your field of view - imagine being able to see the edge of the lens from the inside. This may seem minimal, but it's quite annoying at first glance. It wouldn't be there if the lenses were fully framed. I mark the edges of the lens with a black marker so no light gets there. As the previous reviewer said, the eyecups prevent light from entering the lenses and solve both of the problems I described. I think the eyecup design would look ridiculous too, but at least work better. Because of this design flaw, I gave it 3 stars instead of 5. Everything else about the performance of these glasses is excellent. 2. Pay twice for glasses – The market for used glasses is so big that I assume it has to be supplied by sellers abusing free Samsung glasses. Financial support. I had to buy them separately after receiving my Samsung PN64D7000. Samsung offered a bundled promotion, but the seller refused to ship the glasses for free to make them cheaper at Revain. I had the feeling, that after paying $2400 + tax I should have gotten a pair of glasses that cost about $15 at the factory. Samsung should just put them in the box and not rely on the vendor promoting them or not. People who may have never tried 3D will buy extras when they see 3D along with the included samples. Those who love 3D will find it easier to buy a larger set if you give them 2 to start. I think Samsung will play into their hands with the calculation of sales and customer loyalty. The feeling of "worthless money" when spending $2,400 on a TV doesn't evoke the emotional "brand" response that companies strive for. if you give them 2 at the start.
