Now, here's the deal: about five years ago, I spent $700.00 on generic but serviceable headphones made by a company called Molecula. They both use the same microphone and produce merely adequate sound. And I was just handed a Razer Kraken X as a gift. Everything seemed fine at first, but when my friend and I started playing, we quickly discovered some issues. Almost instantly, he realized that my game was transmitting all the sounds to him, which was incredibly annoying. We spent the entire evening testing this issue and found that the sounds still come through when I physically off the microphone. A standalone Asus Xonar DX, a laptop, and a mobile phone were all used in the testing process. I had to go to the store with the ears and leave without buying what I wanted. Furthermore, these were HyperX Cloud Alpha instances where the same issue was found. These fit well on elderly ears and have a decent sound, but they are overpriced. I was able to pass both tests and use a Sennheiser gsp 300 that I purchased at a bargain from a different retailer without incident. In relation to this tale, I can state categorically that all headphones employing a combination jack connection will suffer from this issue, and that the subsequent availability of an adaptor for two jacks will be irrelevant. Only by using the USB sound card included in the kit or by connecting the headset via two separate jacks will you be able to save your conversation partner. It's great that current headsets, thanks to this combo connector, may be used with both a phone and a TV-viewing device. It also baffles me that this issue was not raised in any of the reviews. This can be mitigated by using the acoustic echo cancellation feature on your sound card, albeit doing so will significantly degrade the quality of your speech.
