Review on πŸ”₯ Heat Cable for Pipe Freeze Protection: 30 Feet with Built-in Thermostat, High-Temp Installation Tape, Heavy-Duty & Self-Regulating - 120 Volt by Rob Bishop

Revainrating 5 out of 5

good product for pipe, fittings and accessories

I did a lot of research on heating cables and the products of the various companies that make them before I bought them from Radiant Solutions. One of the factors that influenced my decision was that I was able to call and speak to someone from the company to answer some of the technical questions I had prior to the purchase. It made a big difference. This gave me more confidence in the product. Heated cable is not an easy product to quickly test and describe its effectiveness as you have to wait outside for very cold conditions and see if it works after a whole winter has passed buy it - so I can't confirm how well it will work in my special application by next spring. But. I REALLY laid everything out and plugged it in, left it at 40 degrees (Fahrenheit) for an hour and I could feel the heat generated by the cable. I wanted to make sure that I felt warm, but also that it wasn't too hot (this can be a problem because if small sections of the cable are exposed to the air [instead of being firmly attached to the pipe], it will overheat and damages wire or insulation.) Intuitively, the temperature of the wire seemed correct (neither too hot nor not warm enough). I then installed it on a 24 foot long open PVC drain pipe that runs under the cabin - underground on the way to the septic tank - and the cabin is in New York where winter can bring extreme cold for many weeks. . Of course, there are also periods of mild weather and then you rely on the self-regulating current to do its job well. The cable also seems very solid and well made to me. It's a bit thicker than most of its competitors' cables. Radiant Solutions is an American company based in Minnesota and this review is completely independent (i.e. I don't work with them, just a one-time client to date).
