For less than $10, it was better than I expected. Arrived quickly, shrink wrapped for protection and well packaged. The quality of the wood is very good, especially for the price. In my case I would say the wood is ready to be stained, painted etc if you'd like. Some people may want to sand it down with very fine paper before finishing, but it's not necessary. It's a little smaller than I would like, but I read the measurements before purchasing. The hardware is as expected or even better for the price. I got this for my niece and she likes to use it on the crayons I got with it. I recommend!
