I bought this to trim my 70 lb dog's nails. Tried Easter Paws and Furminator with batteries but had to put in new AA batteries almost every time. Thought of a pet dremel but saw it had a nickel cadmium battery. Wanted the power and performance of Li-Ion. I saw it and didn't know if it would work or not. Surprisingly, it's light, small and does the job. To do this, use a Furminator or Oster Paws Grinder. Different size inserts can be used. There are no instructions, but you'll probably find out. The only thing is that there is no protection on the head, so you must have a common dog and wear a glove on your hand with which you hold the dog's paw to protect you and your dog from accidentally touching the you can get without protection . Otherwise, it charges quickly, is light, nimble, and gets the job done. Now I take much better care of my dog's claws. I recommend it. I have 4V for my purposes and it works great. I don't know if 8V is too much current for cutting nails.
