I ordered a large size because some standard sizes are too small for me. I wear 12 to 13 in athletic shoes. I chose size 12.5 wide. The wide size is really roomy and a little wider than expected. However, it's fine for me because I've used them for marathon training and my actual marathon. Also, my feet swell up after a few hours on my feet from running, and I prefer wide-toed shoes that are roomy to tight-fitting shoes. These shoes were perfect for my marathon through mile 23. I'm not sure if it's my fatigue that feels overwhelming after mile 23 or something; But I'm sure most normal people who run 23 miles or more usually don't feel that good anyway. In terms of stability, the shoe is really stable. The splints really help your feet stay in place. My legs bend inwards and so the splints have good stability. You feel like you're on hard springs. The padding on the guides is hard and can take several weeks to fully deflate. These shoes will not be really comfortable and soft. They are not soft like Skecher foam shoes or flexible like Nike Frees. It took me about a month to break in these shoes and they were comfortable. I've been using them for marathon training and my runs 2-3 times a week are about 3-8 miles per run. After a month I felt comfortable training 10 miles. Once broken in, these shoes are comfortable for those who stand and walk on their feet for many hours a day. All in all these are good stable shoes. They look like they were built to last. The cushioning on the bottom is really soft and good. Except that they take some time to penetrate. Unfortunately after 5 months of training; Some parts of the bottom of the shoe started peeling off from hitting hard with my heel. However, I mainly use them for walking and light running and they are still fine.
