When our little one was only a few days old he got a pretty bad diaper rash and we were advised to air his butt. We put it on these blankets and aired the area under the diaper for a few minutes. When he peed it was fine as we just threw it away and it didn't create any mess or extra work. They're a bit pricey, so we cut them in half and just stick them up our asses. We also use it in public diaper stations where we don't think they are the most hygienic to avoid using it on a regar mat.
