Good idea but needs serious work

Full disclosure. Because of my status as a professional diver, I received a very significant discount on this product when it was first launched. First of all I would like to say that I really like this concept and that this is by far the best computer I have ever used. It works out. * I'm a dive instructor and technical diver and when my depth, time, NDL and remaining air float at the top right it's great. I got to the point very quickly where I didn't notice the screen until I looked for it. Sometimes I would even find myself looking at my wristop and forgetting I even had the HUD on. You did a lot of things right. First generation air integration is fairly rare in dive computers. I like that it has GPS and even gets the time from the satellites and I don't have to update it. In theory, I can also track multiple tanks. As a trainer with multiple sets of gear plus my doppelgangers and tech belt, it would be nice to be able to switch channels. More on AI later. And everything looks to the future. But when they're so successful in so many areas, it's all the more noticeable when they're doing something wrong. First, it is a requirement for a dual-lens mask. strikes. I bought mine when they first came out with a promise to make an adapter for single lens frameless masks. You are not. Instead, Scubapro released a $180 frameless mask that fits the mount. It's not the same at all. I also need to design a solution that fits my full face mask. I didn't have to fiddle with a bent piece of aluminum and a few screws to use my $1700 computer with my $1400 mask. It's outrageous. Next comes the air integration. It's a great feature, but out of about 200 dives I've used the computer on, the AI worked exactly 3 times. It easily loses connection and it's almost impossible to get it working again. I thought I had a lemon but everyone I know with a computer has the same problem. There's a reason why scubapro started integrating the transmitter into the base unit rather than charging extra. People were angry, they paid extra for artificial intelligence that just didn't work 90% of the time. And there is a compass too. Just shit. After calibration, it is stable 30-40 degrees. The declination where I live is 3.6 degrees, so that's not a problem. When I called about this, Scubapro said I might need to get better at reading and using the compass. I have a degree in geography and teach underwater cartography, surveying and field navigation. I posted for the field mapping I did. I know better than diving experts how to use a compass. But the lack of quality customer service is to be expected from any Johnson Outdoors company. I used to work in the shipping industry and Hummingbird and Minn Kota were notorious for their lack of support. There is also a power saving mode. This is the worst feature of any product I have ever used. When the battery is low, you cannot charge or turn it on. The logo only flashes during charging and you need to send it to Scubapro for servicing. Other than that I still use it. I've been using it every day for 2 weeks and will use it again tomorrow. For the price I paid for it, I can't really complain. AI is not a problem for me, I have the best compass on my wristop computer (Garmin Descent) and now I know it needs charging in the off season. The depth and time in my field of view is enough to convince me of that. But if I spent more than a thousand dollars on this device, I'd be pissed as hell.
