I was skeptical and did some research. This unit costs about 20% more than a new set of golf cart batteries so I figured if they lasted another season it would be worth it. I installed it last week. My car already has a clock/fuel gauge that I made for my wife, so I've been keeping a pretty close eye on the tension. It has declined sharply in the last season. lower quiescent voltage after charging, lower operating voltage, less "snappy" overall. The open-circuit voltage was around 48.5V even after charging. At worst, it hovers around 48 volts after the kids are taken to school, which means a mile through the surrounding streets. This device heats up when active and has a red light to indicate when it is "on". It also turns off when the battery voltage drops below a certain level. I saw the LED turn on and off at about the expected time, so I figured it was working. Aside from warmth and light, it's not obvious he's doing anything. It was very easy to connect. After a few days, I began to notice subtle improvements - the most obvious being a faster recovery from the move. It seems to charge faster (harder to measure). He then became more alert and had a higher resting tension. My wife finally drove the car yesterday, "Wow," she said. At the moment the car lasts around 49.5 and I regret I don't have a better log of the battery levels to see the changes. I am discussing the possibility of installing 24 volt models on my kids' riding toys. It definitely works, way better than I was hoping.
