Just buy the case. Double layer protection with high quality components. However, the attached screen protector is fine. It's nice to have something for the screen, but it's so-so in terms of visibility. Since it's attached to the body and not the screen itself, it can be distracting. It's noticeable when you look for it or use a pen. I'm not a fan of separate lids/stands so I removed it. To protect the screen from slipping out of the backpack I found a simple solution. Remove the standard screen cover and wipe off the remaining adhesive. Chemicals are dangerous, so avoid using them when cleaning. Then I applied a $10 Ankers screen protector that stuck directly to the screen. This includes wipes and a small bubble remover. Take the time to get it right and it's worth it. The screen is protected and the Otterbox case fits as before. The perfect combination.
