The manufacture date on the box was 2 years ago and it was dented, although it was foam packed inside it should have been dented from the factory. I mounted it on the wall of a house with siding using 1/4" and 3" toggle screws. I also created and built the bumper under the hinge to open slowly and open at a maximum angle of 75 degrees to keep the post from falling to the ground. The manufacturer should have taken a closer look at the product before packing it, and the manufacturer should have invented and installed a bumper to prevent the door from opening 180 degrees and your mail falling out. It's a reliable mailbox and it does the job.
