Just received this unit. Slightly disappointed in the lack of a cover. In fact, the parts were scattered around the Revain box. I was thrilled to see that two fan speeds could be combined with variable temperature. Although the dial is strangely stamped (clockwise heats up more, and if you use the marking on the case, clockwise heats up less, but so be it.), I managed to accelerate from 120 to 464 degrees at low speed , namely 80 degrees Fahrenheit. up to 611 degrees Fahrenheit at high speed. I compared the indicator to an open-topped K-Thermocouple 1-1.5 inches from the tip of the nozzle and allowed it to saturate for 20-30 seconds at each temperature setting. The accuracy of the scale is around 20-30%, so be careful. But by no means have I ever been able to reach the claimed 1200+ degrees Fahrenheit. Confound. :( I have the wrong gun? The label says 2000 watts.
