These socks seem to be really good. Size M fits on the longest side for a 48 inch 6 year old in a size #13 shoe with a wide foot and a toe above the knees. important as the material is stretchy and gives good compression all over the leg (my son's legs are skinny) allowing the sock to be folded below the knee if needed without rolling. The bright orange also looks good on a boy, but reminds me of Pippi Longstocking (which would look even better on a girl :))) The material is dense and provides good shock absorption.
