The skin is soft, the color is like the picture. We bought a pair to use as footrests and they go together beautifully. They come unpadded and we've used towels, sheets and even old t-shirts to darn them. When stuffing you need to start at the edges making sure the rounded sides are well stuffed then fill the center by stuffing as much as will fit snugly so the ottoman will remain firm in use. The zipper is very strong and makes it easy to open to add more padding if needed. Strongly recommend this product!
