So here's what I found during my training on this great little remote: The Comcast cable box (Xfinity) controls the actions for Channel change, so the ONLY search method programming This EasyMote could program these buttons. And other buttons could only be programmed by holding the Xfinity IR port at an angle and touching the EasyMote IR port. So let's get started: read and re-read the included instructions until you've almost memorized them. Then watch the manufacturer's two-minute video a few times to better understand how the programming works. Then start. After tweaking this setup it was amazing and dementia safe for my elderly friend who is now in the memory center. is programmed automatically. Check and make sure they are saved. Then program the power button and the volume up and down buttons by syncing them with the current remote (which has TOO MANY BUTTONS, right?! Or we wouldn't need to create a simpler remote). for our seniors, huh?!) Okay, once you've done all that and everything seems to be working, turn your TV off and on again and test, test, test. I found that it took several attempts to "fix" these saved programming maneuvers. But when I finally did it, it was amazing. Oh anyway, I found the programming of the MUTE button seemed to interfere with the stored programming, so I ended up just not programming that button. This is normal as the volume down button works fine. Also, my elderly friend can no longer mute and "mute" her TV until I come and mute her TV. Really nice.
