When I first received this decanter, I winced upon unpacking it because the glass was so thin. It's subtle to the point of delicacy. However, it worked fine as long as you treated it very carefully. Maximum. Then, for about 90 days, they did the most amazing thing in it. Sitting there with expensive wine in it, no one touched it, no big swings in temperature or anything, it slowly broke on its own down the line of the neck and made a piercing creaking sound. This took about 4 seconds. We all stopped and watched. An eerie moment, to say the least. Decanter Houdini indeed! When it spilled, the decanter split into two large pieces and a few small pieces around the line, it broke. No one wanted to risk the wine in case broken glass fell inside. I'm not an expert, but it seems to me that the glass was stretched too thin, pulled too tight, and there may have been air bubbles in it. line, it looks good but too delicate for real use. This is a cheap decanter and you get what you pay for. Better than nothing, but hardly a great product.
