This is a waste of money. It turns on and off and I didn't test the AC cord because the main thing I needed was a spike finder. It's totally inaccurate, every time you put it on the bell it says there's a hairpin. That would only be true if I lived in a log cabin in Alaska. In the end I just used the general rule of thumb every 16 inches and trial and error to find the lugs. So I've had more success if I'm just guessing. You can also knock on the wall to hear a bang. However, this is not the best method as wood cannot be straight either. So it would be great if this spike finder actually worked. Use this to install the baseboard and a place to insert screws into the drywall. It will find a spike for you once or twice, but if I'm guessing I can do it myself without a spike finder. It's really a waste of money if like me you bought it you just found a way to spend some money.
