This was one of my first fluid bed filters and it is excellent. Filled up to 4 inches with sand, supplemented with Nutafin filter additive and fed 200 gallons of water per hour, it began to show changes in water quality after just three days. He is currently working full time in a 60 gallon cichlid tank in Africa (Malawi) which now has virtually no ammonia, nitrite or nitrate problems. I encourage anyone wishing to use these filters to plan their piping to include a good inlet pre-filter and a ball valve that exits the pump before entering the filter. Once installed you will love the fluid bed filters and will want to use them in all your aquariums.
