Composting is legal in this state. We cannot throw food waste, except bones, in the regular trash, we have to put it on our own compost heap. If not, we have to take our waste to the transfer station. These 30 gallon bags are biodegradable/compostable and perfect for my needs. They are made from high quality vegetable oil and vegetable starch, most commonly PSM (corn starch). They are completely composted in 180 days instead of a thousand years. I usually get green compost bags that let the people working with them know they're biodegradable. I'm sure you're familiar with a variety of bags. The "look" is unique and I will use them for external waste. These are really strong bags that easily fit in a 5 gallon bucket and are ready to use. They are expensive, but the cost of not using them is higher. These 30 gallon bags are probably at least 1 mil thick, but I can double that if needed. I still have plastic on hand, but I prefer to use it because I know it goes to a large composting block. They're not certified, but they look and feel like my other bags, which are certified by bodies like BPI, the Institute for Biodegradable Food.
