I bought this suit for my husband a few years ago. Having recently gotten knee to toe wet, I decided I needed a suit too. Before that I thought I had a good raincoat. But I'm tired of getting terribly wet. I have good boots, but the raincoat only covers. I received it yesterday, I will try today. I pull on a light fleece jacket underneath and a baseball cap over my head to keep the rain off my face. The suit is VERY bulky, it has a lot of space. But I think it also helps him breathe. I went out into the pouring rain and my clothes stayed dry. I have short legs so I rolled them up so they don't drag. Yes, there are velcro straps to secure around the ankles, but some of our puddles are pretty deep here. I'd rather have shorter pant legs than worry about submerging them in water. My husband has the same problem. We really don't want the legs to be so long that we have to find a way to keep them on their feet. Rain and mud boots keep our feet dry. After sitting in the rain with the things I still had on hand, I began to notice differences. They may be updates to both versions, I don't know. The new suit I received has the hood of the women's jacket sewn on, not the buttons. My husband's senior suit has a detachable hood. The hood on my husband's suit is HUGE. The only way to make it smaller is strings that you have to tie. The new suit has an elastic cord and cord locks. This meant I could put the hood on and off without having to tie the drawstrings under my chin. The pant legs of my new suit had slits at the bottom, I think to make it easier to put on my boots. My husband's pants are just very wide at the bottom. And the boots don't fit. Mine fit, but I think it's easier to put on your pants first and then your boots. (Also don't worry about dirt getting on the inside of the legs) His pants have an elastic drawstring waist. and it's on the inside of the belt. mine is outside One more thing: my women's jacket has a zipper on the inside. Nobody else does that, I can't imagine why they did it for this jacket. I'm used to standard threaded zippers. Unisex zippers. I don't need a fake flash because I'm a woman. I will not breastfeed this baby!
