Thermometers aren't bad, but there are a few downsides. First about the good. The temperature is fixed to the nearest degree, which suits me perfectly. Cons: 1) The on/off button is only on the case, apparently for decoration. It does not turn off the device. That means it's always drawing power from the battery, even when you don't need to read the temperature. 2) The suction cups that attach the device to the outside of the tank are not holding. And the slot on the back of the device is too big to hold the suction cup in place. All it takes is a small bump and the device dangles from the tank by a string. 3) The suction cup that holds the end placed in the tank turns yellow and I imagine that in a very short time it becomes brittle and no longer holds. Tip: There is a thin, clear, sticky plastic on top of the digital reader. You need to remove these then you can see the temperature clearly. It would be nice if the company pointed this out. And good that I understood that, otherwise I would have deducted another star.
