This is the first time I have replaced a similar item in a car. I figured for a 2003 Chevy I'd go for the item price. I have to be honest, if you don't have the patience or the tools to do the job, don't try. This isn't brain surgery, but the initial installation is done with rivets that need to be drilled out, and the area to be machined is extremely tight. I did the driver's side first and it wasn't that bad. Estimated time to complete the job is just over two hours. It took me almost 4 hours but I saved over $150. So I bought another motor for the passenger side. The rivets were more difficult to access and it took me just over 4 hours to get the old motor out. However, I saved a lot of money by doing it myself. Maybe if someone has better tools for the job, they can get it done in a lot less time. In fact, if it weren't for the sealed area, it's just a plug and a couple of bolt and screw fasteners.
