Can't turn water off

I recently purchased a Kohler flip top handheld shower set. The quality and performance is excellent, which is what I've come to expect from Kohler. The retail price was good too. My issue with the shower head is that there is no way to turn off the water. I'm sitting in the shower and have to get up and put my head back in the holder or let it hang and splash water all over while I lather. Considering the need to conserve water and the government limiting the flow of water in everyone's mind, it's ridiculous that Kohler chose not to turn on the water shutoff button. So do many other manufacturers. Although I understand that some people who stand like a continuous stream even while lathering, and some who completely remove the restricting part for a stronger stream, these are selfish acts and go against the important imperative of conserving as much water as possible. I hope that in the future Kohler redesigns this product to include a water shut-off feature and that people stop removing the restricting feature.
