Review on πŸš€ Enhance Efficiency with Eheim 6664 Prefilter: A Comprehensive Review by Stacie Stewart

Brilliant and --> height adjustable!

Before praising this wonderfully innovative product, I'd like to address the size: several reviewers have said it's large and yes, it's quite large. BUT the height can be reduced by almost half! There are three segments: an upper one that fits into the intake pipe and two lower segments, each containing a separate sponge filter. While both barrels have the same perimeter holes, the top barrel has holes in the bottom and the lower segment has a solid (closed) bottom to prevent substrate being drawn in. If you need a shorter version of the pre-filter, disassemble the parts and remove the middle segment. Snap the (top) inlet onto the bottom segment and voila! No more size problems! If you're wondering if it's worth it, I'll give you a resounding YES! This saves you hours of time and significant cost savings as the filter media lasts longer. Another consideration is that your expensive canister filter will last longer because there is less wear on the water valve/coupling mechanisms. This is particularly useful if there is occasional bubbling up of too much feed or if the tubular film "snows" when the filter is switched on again. Whatever it is, this little gem will get rid of it in no time and you can just wash it off when it's done its job.

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Don't really like it's ok
